The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. Reports June Sales Up 21%; Comparable Store Sales up 14%; Comparable Store Sales at The Children's Place Brand Increased 15%; Comparable Store Sales at Disney Store Increased 12%

SECAUCUS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2006--The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCE) today announced sales results for the five-week period ended July 1, 2006.

June 2006

  • Total consolidated sales for the five-week period ended July 1, 2006, increased 21% to $151.7 million, compared to sales of $125.4 million reported for June 2005. Consolidated comparable store sales increased 14% in June.
  • The Children's Place brand's sales were $98.3 million, a 23% increase compared to last year's sales of $80.0 million. Comparable store sales increased 15% on top of last year's 2% increase.
  • Disney Store's sales were $53.4 million, an 18% increase compared to last year's sales of $45.4 million. Comparable store sales increased 12%.
  • During June, the Company opened nine Children's Place stores and two Disney Stores.

Year-to-Date Period

  • Total consolidated sales for the twenty-two weeks ended July 1, 2006, increased 18% to $691.1 million, compared to sales of $585.0 million reported for the same period last year. Consolidated comparable store sales increased 12% for the year-to-date period.
  • The Children's Place brand's sales were $500.0 million for the twenty-two week period, an 18% increase compared to last year's sales of $424.2 million. Comparable store sales increased 11% on top of last year's 9% increase.
  • Disney Store's sales were $191.1 million, a 19% increase compared to last year's sales of $160.8 million. Comparable store sales increased 15%.
  • For the year-to-date period, the Company opened 20 Children's Place stores and closed two. In addition, the Company opened four Disney Stores and closed two.
